Site is situated on an abandoned goldmine with a light slope (5˚ falling towards W) approx. 5km from the Kaw Mountain Camp. Ruderal shrubland with grassy open areas between them dominated by one Rubiacea. Cover of shrubs is about 30% and shrubs´ height ranges from 1-3m. No lianas, epiphytes and deadwood. Tree-canopy cover is 30-50% with larger open, grassy areas in between. Surrounding area is covered by slightly used primary rainforest on mountainous relief. No litter or humus layer present. Soil-layer is very stony and rich in clay. Dominant plant species Rubiaceae sp. Site has been clearcut about 5-10 years ago in order to use it as goldmine. In fact area hasn´t been used though for gold-mining. |
