South-east from Jaco, coastal mountains. Moist broadleaved tropical rainforest. Quite natural old stand with multilayer canopy. Rather steep slopes, the whole landscape is forested, but there are paths which are used by tourists.
The forest is in fact the dry version of the rainforest, with very few epiphytes. There are 3 drought months in Jaco. However, tropical seasonal forest is still very different and occurs on some coastal cliffs. So we have to classify the current stand as rainforest.
A path used by tourists is quite close. Multispecies stand. No visible signs of disturbances. |
