Boreal forest, Färnebofjärden national park, Sweden. Boreal forest, uniform moss layer on the forest floor. Canopy cover ~70% with Picea abies as the dominant tree. Forest floor almost entirely covered by granite stones/boulders that are covered by soil/humus/moss. About 100 meters SW from a small road, plot situated in a national park (Färnebofjärden). Dominated by Picea abies. Forest floor covered by mosses. Understorey sparse with the following species: Sorbus aucuparia, Vaccinium vitis-idaea, Maianthemum bifolium, Vaccinium myrtillus, Quercus sp., Festuca sp. Trees have been selectively harvested at some point, but decades ago. Signs of possible berry pickers. Replicate sites about 200 meters apart |
