Region: Šumadija and Western Serbia. On the road 112 from Bajna Bašta towards south (not west). Quercus ceris forest. Tree layer dominated by oak, canopy closure 50-70%. Bush layer sparse, field layer sparse. Soil pale, somewhat stony. Landscape mountainous; forest patches and sparse villages, remote area. S slope. More open than site 1: canopy closure 50-60%. Less leaf litter on ground. Some Fagus sylvatica in tree layer. Bush layer: Abies alba saplings, Juniperus communis, Fagus sylvatica. Field layer: grasses, Thymus sp., Asteraceae, Pteridium aquilinum. Trampling – some paths visible; site close to the road. |
